Effective email writing: how to get great results from your sales emails

We all know that effective sales emails are a brilliant, and affordable, way to stay in touch with your business contacts. But even getting a potential customer to open your email – let alone read it – can be tricky.

How many emails do you receive with the words Free! Hot! Urgent! in the subject line? Does it make you want to open them? Or reach for the delete button?

Effective email writing from Turner Ink

Effective email writing is a bit of a skill. So what does a Turner Ink sales email include?

An eyeball-grabbing subject line which briefly outlines the content of the email and lets the reader know what’s in it for them. It will include an offer they can’t refuse. And it will be in as few characters as possible.

The copy will be short, sharp and concise and will get the offer on the table pretty darn quick. The layout will be simple and easy to scan. The tone of voice and style will be appropriate for the receiver. And of course the spelling and grammar will be perfect.

The email will be personalised and include a sign-off. And there will be a call to action. Such as: Call this number. Reply to this email. Visit the website to order.

And there will be a complete absence of emoticons. You’re not 12.
